Don't get caught out in the cold
Hako Machines is urging business and local authorities not to get caught out in the cold this winter by leaving their purchasing decisions for winter maintenance equipment until the snow is on the ground. Companies don't have long left, only a window of a couple of weeks, to order equipment ranging from small walk-behind machines to gritters, ploughs and snow brushes that can be used on the multipurpose Citymaster street sweeper.
Managing Director Nick Meredith explains: 'For the past three years, as the winters have become more ferocious, the minute the snow hits we are inundated with customer calls, looking for equipment. The continuation of these harsh winters means they have become the norm and therefore councils and businesses need to be prepared or else run the risk of losing time and money. We find that once the show hits, regardless of what stock we hold, we're left with nothing more to offer than a shovel!
'But organisations such as Belfast City Council, which has purchased the necessary add-ons for its Citymaster fleet, doesn't lose a day's work and continues to have the machines in the city and suburbs making sure that people can still get out and about. Having even just one machine down because it isn't equipped to handle the adverse weather conditions can cost thousands in downtime and staff costs. All because they didn't think about buying the equipment they needed when the sun was shining!
'To make matters worse, these companies would have saved money if they had pre-planned as the capital investment for winter maintenance accessories is far less than purchasing a dedicated snow clearing machine that will stand idle for at least eight months of the year. Plus the dormant machine will still need to be maintained whereas the multipurpose Citymaster is out working and giving an excellent return on investment.
The Hako Citymaster 1200 is the UK's biggest selling sub-compact sweeper and, along with the larger Citymaster 2000, can be used for winter maintenance as well as street cleansing, flushing, scrubbing and grounds maintenance.
